CRIPS has consolidated two emerging new research lines: Gender medicine in infections and effect of aging. Significant differences were identified in risk factors, clinical presentation, outcomes and management issues. These findings have implications in personalized dosage, reduction of adverse events and more sustainable clinical practices. Key highlights should be integrated in the safety culture in the hospital. Understanding inflammaging and immune-senescence may improve quality of life and has implications in personalized vaccine strategies. Interaction with herpes virus and replication of latent cytomegalovirus seems crucial. Leadership in clinical differences between males and females has been endorsed under the framework of infection in the elderly in the ESCMID and the international women in intensive care network.Important multicentre manuscripts were published in pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamic of antibiotics
