The group leads a translational, interdisciplinary program on microbiota–host interactions, inflammatory and functional gastrointestinal disorders, pancreatic disease and digestive motility. Using multi-omic, mechanistic and clinical approaches, it has clarified links between diet, microbiota and intestinal inflammation, identifying microbial mediators in IBD and epithelial changes in microscopic colitis. It has also advanced gut–brain interaction disorders through trials and physiological studies, proving the efficacy of thoraco-abdominal biofeedback for distension and strengthening digital care in IBS and functional dyspepsia. Research extends to systemic immune-mediated diseases such as systemic sclerosis, eosinophilic GI disorders and celiac disease, combining scientific excellence with clinical innovation and international collaboration.
