Multidisciplinary group integrating clinicians and basic scientists, with extensive experience in biomedical research and translational focus. It is part of the eCORE networks in Women’s and Child Health, Rare Diseases, and Advanced Therapies at VHIR. Its aims are to elucidate the pathophysiology of congenital malformations, develop innovative treatments (advanced surgery, bioengineering, and cell therapy), and design new strategies for musculoskeletal diseases. Key advances include neural regeneration—spina bifida—with animal models, funded projects, multiple publications, and participation in international consortia and clinical guidelines; muscle and cartilage regeneration with competitive projects and high-impact output; studies on congenital disease mechanisms, including renal involvement in diabetes; and therapeutic innovation (perinatal neuroprotection, 3D technologies, and hyaluronic acid). The group contributes to regenerative medicine and improved clinical outcomes.
