The Biomedical Research Group in Gynecology (GyneLab) focuses on two-way translational research in endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer and endometriosis. In 2025, the group advanced significantly in its two main lines: Early Diagnostics and Precision Medicine. Key achievements include the development of non-invasive diagnostic tests using gynecological fluids (WomEC and CytoMARK) and the expansion of the GynePDX platform, which now includes over 174 patient-derived models and organoids. This tool allows for testing novel targeted therapies and understanding intratumor heterogeneity. The group maintains high clinical excellence through its synergy with the ESGO-accredited Gynecological Oncology Unit at Vall d’Hebron Hospital. In 2025, GyneLab continued to promote innovation and entrepreneurship through its spin-off MiMARK, aiming to transfer laboratory results directly to clinical practice to improve patient survival and well-being.

ENDO-HIT project

Brief: ENDO-HIT is a VHIR GineLab citizen-science project developed with secondary school students and educational partners to improve menstrual health literacy and increase awareness of endometriosis. Through co-creation, classroom activities, and active student participation in research-related questionnaires and discussions, the project aims to reduce stigma, promote early recognition of symptoms, and encourage a more informed and gender-sensitive approach to menstrual health.
