Our research group has made significant progress in using biomarkers to improve epilepsy diagnosis and prediction across clinical settings. Novel blood biomarkers have been identified to predict epilepsy after stroke, as well as to enable faster diagnosis of status epilepticus. In addition, electroencephalogram (EEG) and neuroimaging biomarkers have been developed to predict cognitive decline and disease progression, along with markers of neuronal damage in temporal lobe epilepsy. These advances integrate biological, electrophysiological, and imaging data, improving clinical management. Finally, collaborations with technology companies have been established to apply artificial intelligence to EEG and identify new biomarkers for epilepsy diagnosis. Furthermore, our group maintains a prominent position in recruiting subjects for international clinical trials related to epilepsy.
